ROCK BAND GROUPS

Description:

Aspire is offering Rock Band-based group this summerl that will combine rock music with social skill development for adolescents and young adults ages 13-22.  Being in a band is a good medium for developing social thinking skills because it naturally combines musicianship with cooperation and social interaction.  For instance, as band members participants display and enhance their musicianship while working together to produce a good “sound.”  Each group includes one or two members per instrument—specifically guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and possibly saxophone. Participants will need to bring their own instrument and amplifier, although some equipment will be available. A goal for each group will be to include a recital, but more importantly will involve the fun and satisfaction from playing together.

Application and Intake Process:

Prospective group members will need to submit an application (click here) and meet with the group leader with their instrument prior to the start of the groups. This can be done in person or via the internet, e.g. Skype.

 Staff:
