For the second year in a row, Working Mother Magazine has selected the MGH as one of the top 100 organizations in the country that supports working mothers. The magazine's rigorous selection process evaluates companies in the areas of work/life, company culture, family-friendly policies, on-site childcare facilities and compensation.
The hospital was chosen based on the many programs, benefits and services the Hospital offers that help our female employees balance their work at the MGH and their personal lives at home with their families.
Some examples of these benefits include, childcare options, such as the Back Up Child Care Center and our partnership with Parents in a Pinch; maternity and adoption leaves; flexible work schedules, job sharing and telecommuting; the Mother's Corner program that supports mothers returning to work after maternity leave; and many of the Employee Assistance Programs that address family issues.
The hospital also offers programs that help working mothers with their own personal self care such as the weekly stress-reduction sessions offered by the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine, and the Be Fit program, which is the hospital's wellness program. Working Mother Magazine also was impressed by the broad range of professional development and education opportunities the MGH offers to all employees.
Working mothers make up a significant portion of our workforce, and they hold many important positions that help ensure the hospital runs smoothly. The MGH appreciates all that they do for the hospital while still managing the many responsibilities involved in taking care of their families.

“Working at MGH has afforded me the opportunity to both raise a family and have a successful career. Throughout my career I have been able to take advantage of flexible scheduling options, which meant I never missed out on special family moments. I never could have become the nursing director of Ellison 13 and Blake 13 and simultaneously raised a family without the constant support of my colleagues and the MGH.” Lori Pugsley, RN
