Provide
books, magazines and puzzles to patients in the
hospital. Spend time with patients who need a person
to talk to. Relay information regarding special
requests to the librarian.

- Self-confident.
- Outgoing.
- A willingness to
engage patients in conversation.
- Flexible attitude.

| Duties
/ Responsibilities: |
- Restock
the cart with books, magazines and puzzles.
·
- Visit the assigned
building with the book cart and offer reading
materials, conversation and good cheer to patients.
- Keep a log of
the floors you visit and the number of items
given out.
|
| Limitations: |
- Volunteers should
not comment on a patient's appearance or illness.
- Do not fill patients'
requests without first consulting staff.
- Volunteers should
observe universal precautions.
- Volunteers must
respect patient rights and confidentiality.
- Volunteers must
wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all
times.
