| Objective: |
To supplement Emergency Radiology staff on White One.
Support patients and family members by providing a warm and welcome atmosphere.
Provide escort service.
|
| Qualifications: |
- Mature, self-confident manner and ability to
approach staff with questions.
- Ability to provide a warm and welcoming presence to patients and their families.
- Ability to understand and accept a complex patient care environment.
- Possess a clear understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate well with all types of patients and employees.
- Physical ability to run various errands throughout the hospital and/or transport medically-stable patients.

| Duties
/ Responsibilities: |
- Make patients and their family members feel welcome and comfortable.
- Assist the Radiology Service Representatives with dispatching and communicating information to
physicians, technologists, and Emergency Room Medical and Support staff.
- Transport medically stable patients to and from Emergency Department and various inpatient units.
- Attend to patients comfort needs such as blankets, telephone assistance, and patient visiting.
- Support family and loved ones of patients, including children as needed.
- Support staff on an as-needed basis.

| Limitations: |
- Volunteers should respect patient confidentiality.
- Refrain from assuming knowledge about patients illness and do not offer explanations or options
relating to the purpose of the tests.
- Respond to patient requests only after obtaining specific permission from Radiology staff.
- Do not assist with patient transfer from stretcher to bed.
- Volunteers must wear their volunteer jackets and badges at all times.
