Job Title
Volunteer Information & Transport Ambassador

Immediate Supervisor:

Celeste Peters

Note: In absence of primary supervisors, a designated Information Ambassador will be assigned as immediate supervisor.

Objective:
  • To provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for patients and visitors of MGH.
  • To direct people through the hospital and respond to reasonable needs patients, visitors, and family members.
  • To assist in the transporting of patients from the lower level of the Wang Building throughout the hospital and from medical appointments to the patient pick-up area in a courteous and pleasant manner.
Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Ability to give clear and concise directions and information.
  • Patience.
  • Ability to comfortably be able to push a patient or visitor in a wheelchair.
  • Familiarity with MGH a plus.
Days & Times Needed:

Monday through Friday  9 :30 AM - 12:30 PM
Monday through Friday 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Give accurate information and directions to patients, visitors and family members, using direction sheets.
  • Provide written directions and maps when necessary.
  • Be prepared to greet people as they approach the information desk.
  • Defer requests that require using patient information systems to Information Desk Ambassadors.
  • Transport patients and visitors in wheelchairs as necessary.
Limitations:
  • Respect patient confidentiality.
  • Do not discuss patient's illness or appearance.
  • Do not use the computers at the front desk if you do not have a Partners Log On and Password.
  • Computers require user IDs and passwords.
  • If a computer is signed on, it is to be used strictly by that staff member.
