Anatoly Goldstein, Ph. D. is currently a Computer Systems Coordinator II at the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation (Voice Center) at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Dr. Goldstein was invited to join Dr. Zeitels and Dr. Hillman when they established MGH Voice Center in July 2004. While at MGH Dr. Goldstein has applied his prior 28 years of software and database development experience to developing database applications on voice disorders. His approach to database and software development was architectural in a sense that he relied on existing hospital information systems and databases that allowed him to concentrate on development of voice disorder specific applications crucial for the MGH Voice Center while arranging for scheduled automatic data import of necessary patient data from existing Partners/MGH information systems such as IDX and PATCOM. Since establishment of the Voice Center Dr. Goldstein has designed, developed, implemented, and supported the following n-tier applications (ComponentOne Studio/ VB6/ VBA/MS Word Automation/MS Excel Automation/ Microsoft SQL Server 2005):

  • An interactive Voice Forms Application, including a GUI, a Database on Voice Disorders and a Generator of Patient Reports in MS Word format (the implemented forms include Diagnoses, Procedures, Voice Related Quality of Life, ASHA Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice, Aerodynamic Analysis; Voice Forms Application performs import of Acoustical Analysis Data measured on speech patients with KayPentax CSL/MDVP software).
  • Avastin Clinical Trial Data Entry & Auditing Application including 18 interactive forms complying with FDA requirements, a relational database, and a Report Generator used to generate detailed reports for the ongoing Avastin Clinical Trial in a form of multi-page Microsoft Excel Workbook.
  • StrobeViewer imaging application allowing to search for and play on any Partners PC strobe videos for about 29,000 exams done at MGH and MEEI (for authorized patients). StrobeViewer represents an architectural solution implementing a relatively small ComponentOne/VB6 program working with vendor’s database (KayPentax/SQL Server 2005), and automating KayPentax Video Viewer and VLC Media Player to handle a number of video formats used at MEEI Voice Lab & MGH Voice Center in the period from 1999 to 2010 (AVI, MPEG, DPS, DVM).
  • A research website and related database for APM International Data-Sharing Project (Microsoft ASP.Net 3.5/ C# /Web Services/MS SQL Server 2008) developed in collaboration with Dr Hillman and available for APM researchers at http://apm.partners.org.

Please see Dr Goldstein’s full CV for the full list of applications developed by him at MGH.
