CHAPLAINCY
Advanced Interdisciplinary CPE Program
The Chaplaincy at MGH offers an innovative advanced interdisciplinary Clinical Pastoral Education program. Chaplain interns and experienced healthcare providers learn side-by-side in a rich, multidisciplinary mix. Three units take place over a 16-month period.
Program Content
This CPE program focuses on following areas:
Chaplain interns develop a clinical practice informed by research, enriched by experience, and ready to contribute to the advance of the profession. Each unit offers specialized training: clinical ethics, chaplaincy research, and leadership skills.
Chaplain interns serve in virtually every specialty and sub-specialty in medicine and surgery. Assignments in pediatrics, transplantation, and medical psychiatry are available.
Graduates are eligible for board certification in chaplaincy
Calendar
The program starts in the fall of 2010. The first unit runs from September - December, the second unit from January- May, and third unit from September - December. Chaplain interns commit 30 hours/week to the program.

The Rev. Angelika Zollfrank, ACPE Supervisor, serves as Interfaith Chaplain and Director of the Clinical Pastoral Education programs at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Cost
The tuition for the entire three-unit program is $1200. A modest stipend will be offered. The first $75 of the cost is a non-refundable application fee. A non-refundable deposit of $100 assures a place upon acceptance into the program, leaving the remaining $1025.00 of tuition payable on the first day of the program.
Admission Requirements
This CPE program is open to persons who are pursuing healthcare chaplaincy. Additional prerequisites are:
Successful completion of one unit of CPE
Masters-level theological education or equivalent
Ability to make 16-month commitment

Applicants use the standard Partners CPE App and the CPE Reference Form. Please note that acceptance into the program is provisional pending a successful CORI check, and MGH Occupational Health screening.
Applications for the Advanced Interdisciplinary CPE Program are accepted on a first-come-first serve basis
