Insurance plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross and HMO plans usually cover patient's bills. However, these plans are agreements made between you and your insurer. The hospital is not involved in these agreements, so we cannot state whether an insurer will pay for care given at Massachusetts General Hospital. In some cases, insurance plans do not cover the entire stay or certain forms of treatments. Some plans include deductibles and exclusions, and occasionally, insurance companies will decline payment of a bill after care has been given and the patient has been discharged. We will send your final bill as soon as possible after discharge. Please note that doctors bill separately for their services.

If you are from outside the United States, please be prepared to settle your account at the time you are discharged.
