William E. Butler, MD
The number one and two causes of death in children in the United States are nervous system trauma and nervous system tumors. Fighting these is the principal activity of Dr. William E. Butler, M.D., pediatric neurosurgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children. He serves on the faculty at Harvard Medical School, where he obtained his M.D. degree magna cum laude. He performed his neurosurgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and received Board Certification in May 2000. His other clinical interests include Chiari malformation, epilepsy, tuberous sclerosis complex, and minimally invasive neuroendoscopic surgery. His research interests include computational biomedical imaging. A side research interest is writing secure web-based software for coordinating multicenter clinical trials.
