On June 2, the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center held the third annual one hundred dinner, raising more than $700,000 for the Cancer Center and honoring 100 individuals and groups who have helped advance the fight against cancer. As Cancer Center Director Dr. Daniel Haber astutely described it, the evening was a celebration of hope.
In celebrating the one hundred, we recognize people whose contributions are as varied as their talents and imagination. This virtual tribute book will introduce you to each of our 2010 honorees.
They include an eleven-year-old girl who raises money in memory of her grandmother, a gardener, musician and fly fisherman, two Nobel laureates, a four-time Boston Marathon winner, a three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl champion as well as advocates, fund-raisers and caregivers of all ages.
Ted Kennedy Jr. spoke at the event as we honored his father the late Senator Edward Kennedy for his commitment to the cancer cause. View photos from this year’s dinner.
We are already planning for next year’s one hundred dinner on June 1, 2011 and look forward to hearing 100 new stories and learning about further advances in cancer care. We encourage you to nominate caregivers, advocates, volunteers and others who make a difference every day in the lives of cancer patients, survivors and their families. Nominate someone today!
Thank you for your interest in and support of the extraordinary efforts of the Mass General Cancer Center. We very much hope to see you at next year’s event.
