The J. Philip Kistler Stroke Research Center
The Kistler Stroke Research Center provides office space for Stroke Service research groups.
It is named in honor of Dr. J. P. Kistler, Director of the MGH Stroke Service from 1978 to 2004, to recognize Dr. Kistler's contributions to the MGH Neurology Service, and the field of Stroke neurology.

Research center named in
J. Philip Kistler, M.D.
Dr. Kistler was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2006. He was credited for the use of MRI imaging in cerebrovascular disease, which changed the practice of medicine. His more than 77 writings on acute stroke care have been published in many scientific reports. Being P.I. of the BAATAF trial, he provided critical data on the efficacy of warfarin for reducing risk of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation.

About the Center
The newly-opened Kistler Stroke Research Center provides office space for Stroke Service research groups. The Kistler Center is located in an adjoining building to the MGH Center for Human Genetic Research, and both are across the street from the main hospital buildings of the MGH, facilitating easy and rapid access to patients in the Emergency Departments, on the hospital floors and in outpatient offices. The office suite has ample space for faculty, fellows, imaging scientists, research coordinators, and administrative staff, and includes thirty-six Windows 2000 Pentium 4 computers, all of which have access to the MGH local area network and are equipped with standard desktop software. The Center also houses dedicated workstations for the analysis of neuroimaging data and a state of the art conference room with video conferencing capabilities.
