Biography

Dr. Berkson received his BA Summa Cum Laude from Brandeis University in 1994 and received an MA in Computer Science from Brandeis University in 1995. He graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine with an MD with Honors in June 2000.  He completed an internship in general surgery followed by an orthopaedic residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Berkson completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Berkson is a member of the MGH Sports Medicine Service and is an Instructor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.  He is a team physician for the Boston Red Sox and is the Head Team Physician for Eastern Nazarene College, the Quincy Public Schools and Archbishop Williams High School.  Dr. Berkson was recognized in 2005 as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Berkson specializes in advanced arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, knee and elbow, and he has completed training in cartilage restoration procedures. His current research interests include pitching injuries and studies of shoulder and elbow biomechanics.
