Biography
Dr. Gwathmey graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Biology. After medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, he returned to Charlottesville for Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Virginia. During residency, he was involved in research on distal radius fractures, multiple ligament knee injuries, and cartilage restoration. He also received numerous teaching awards at U.Va. including the Mulholland Award for excellence in medical student teaching. He served as administrative chief resident during his PGY-5 year.
Dr. Gwathmey is joined in Boston by his wife, Kelly, who is a Fellow in Neuromuscular Neurology at Partners, and his 18 month old daughter, Cate.
