School-Based Interventions : Depression
Interventions for Sleep Changes

  1. Start the school day with less demanding academic tasks

Switch more difficult content or courses to later in the school day.
  2. Allow the student specified "rest" times to avoid sleeping during instruction

Allow "rest breaks" for 5-15 minutes in the morning and afternoon if needed after academic intervals.

Behavioral Planning

  • Start the school day later based on the student's sleep-wake cycle

Allow the student to arrive and stay later to complete academic work.
