Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)

The Massachusetts General Hospital, founded in 1811, is one of the major teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School. There are 900 beds, a large outpatient practice with satellite facilities throughout the Boston metro area, and the busiest emergency room in New England, which serves as a Level I Trauma center. Massachusetts General Hospital functions both as a general hospital for the Boston area, and as a referral center for patients from around the world. An exceptional teaching environment has made the hospital a renowned center for medical training in all aspects of medical care. Biomedical research facilities are present in the immediate campus as well as a 600,000 square foot facility located fifteen minutes away in Charlestown.
