Jo-Anne O. Shepard, MD
Director, Thoracic Imaging Division

Thoracic Imaging provides a full range of diagnostic examinations including chest radiography, chest tomography, computed tomography of the thorax, chest fluoroscopy, sinography, transthoracic needle biopsy and MRI of the thorax.

The division is also participating with other institutions in an NIH program, which will compare imaging methods for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. The study will determine the value of CT for pulmonary embolism diagnosis. Mass General Imaging is currently developing a method to co-register CT scans and PET scans.
