Director, Division of Nuclear Medicine - Molecular Imaging & PET-CT

Mass General Imaging is pleased to announce the availability of PET-CT, a revolutionary diagnostic imaging exam that combines the functional information from a PET scan with the anatomical information from a CT scan.

An order for a PET-CT will result in both a PET scan and a diagnostic CT scan of the area(s) requested. Fusion images showing the anatomical distribution of the FDG uptake will also be created. All scans will be acquired on the same device, in the same scan session.

PET-CT is recommended for evaluation of most cancer patients. Conventional PET scans are satisfactory for most primary head and neck tumors and brain evaluation.
