Women celebrated as role models for healthy, vibrant lives

Six area women were honored by the MGH as role models for good health at the seventh annual "Celebrating Women: Leading a Healthy, Vibrant Life" event May 1 at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Presented by MGH Community Health Associates and the MGH health centers, the celebration was emceed by Mallika Marshall, MD, a physician at the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center and medical reporter for CBS-TV 4, and featured Malissa Wood, MD, of the MGH Women's Heart Health Program, as the keynote speaker.

Selected by their local MGH community health centers, the honorees were Jean Chapman of Chelsea, Roberta Schofield of Charlestown, Elizabeth McNeil of Everett, Florence Mercurio of Revere, Cheryl Dalessio of Winthrop and Marilyn Frissora of the North End. During the ceremony, young women from the community introduced each of these awardees, sharing personal reflections on how their examples could inspire others to lead healthy lives. Special recognition also was given to the Zonta Club of Chelsea and Nancy Frattaroli, owner of Artú Restaurants, for their support of local women through their work and community spirit.
