• MGH nursing excellence recognized at Nursing Spectrum gala
  Nurse Recognition Week is a time to celebrate the practice and dedication of the MGH's more than 4,000 nurses. Whether caring for patients at the bedside or conducting leading-edge studies to advance nursing practice, MGH nurses are committed to providing the best possible patient care.

• Women celebrated as role models for healthy, vibrant lives
  Six area women were honored by the MGH as role models for good health at the seventh annual "Celebrating Women: Leading a Healthy, Vibrant Life" event May 1 at the Charlestown Navy Yard.

• Discussing mental health disparities in the API community
  A part of the MGH's inaugural celebration of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (API) Heritage Month, the Association of Multicultural Members of Partners (AMMP) hosted a special forum May 8 in the Trustees Room featuring Ed K.S. Wang, PsyD, director of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Office of Multicultural Affairs.

• MGHers celebrate Scientist designation
  The Plaza Café at the Richard B. Simches Research Center overflowed with MGHers on May 13 for the Best Place to Work in Academia celebration. The event was one of two receptions celebrating the distinguished honor bestowed upon the MGH by The Scientist, a magazine for life science professionals. A second reception was held at CNY, Building 149 on May 21.

• Honoring MGH organ and tissue donors and families
  The MGH and New England Organ Bank (NEOB) together hosted Celebrate the Gift of Life May 4. Nearly 100 people attended the event that was held to honor individuals instrumental in organ and tissue donation at the MGH. Guests of honor included MGH organ donors, families of deceased MGH organ and tissue donors from 2007, along with the many staff members involved in organ and tissue donation.

• Making medications safer with EMAPPS
  With medication errors a growing concern for health care organizations across the country, the MGH is implementing a critical new online system to electronically link the ordering, approval, dispensing, administration and documentation of medications.

• Blood drive winner announced
  After six weeks of intense competition, a winner has been declared in the MGH Blood Donor Center's first "Put 'Em Up" vs. "Fix 'Er Up" Police and Security versus Buildings and Grounds Blood Donor Challenge.
