• Honoring administrative excellence: The Pamela J. Ellis Award
  On April 23, administrative support staff from across the hospital were honored at the annual Administrative Secretarial/Clerical Support Staff Day, which also included the presentation of the 11th annual Pamela J. Ellis Memorial Secretarial Award.

• Partners paging system includes new callback changes
  MGHers using the Partners Paging Directory (PPD) will now be required to use a full, ten-digit telephone callback number when initiating a page.

• May marks API Heritage Month
  More than 47 different ethnic groups comprise the 14 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (API) in the United States, and during the month of May the MGH will join in celebrating their traditions, history, languages and unique experiences.

• LGBT Health Awareness Week offers health information
  April 7 through 14 marked the MGH's first Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Health Awareness Week, organized by MGHers to provide information about health issues specific to the LGBT community.

• Monitoring vibrations associated with B3C construction
  As construction of the new Building for the Third Century (B3C) progresses, some may not only have seen construction activity, but also may have felt some vibrations in buildings adjacent to the construction site. So, one may ask, "How are these vibrations kept at a safe level for patients and staff?"

• Advance directive and health care proxy decisions
  In conjunction with the inaugural National Healthcare Decisions Day, the MGH's Patient Care Services Ethics in Clinical Practice (EICP) and Patient Education Committees hosted a table in the Main Corridor April 16 to provide information about advance directives and health care proxies.

• Help the MGH go green
  The MGH had a special reason to celebrate this year's Earth Day. A team of Environmental Services Department staff, MGH administrators and the MGH Raising Environmental Awareness League (REAL), with support from MGH President Peter L. Slavin, MD, have launched a series of "green" enterprises, including a hospitalwide energy efficiency project, paperless billing program and plastics recycling service.
