• A celebration worth repeating
  In 2003, the MGH had the distinct honor of being designated the first Magnet hospital in Massachusetts by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). On April 15, the MGH received official notification that it had been redesignated as a Magnet hospital for another four years.

• Boston Health & Fitness Expo
  Channel 7 NBC/CW 56 and Partners HealthCare are partnering to present the second annual Boston Health & Fitness Expo at the Hynes Convention Center June 21 and 22.

• Honoring the MGH's Eucharistic ministers
  Healing takes more than addressing just the physical needs of patients — honoring and supporting their spiritual lives is a vital component of patient-centered care. Helping to meet this need are the MGH's Eucharistic ministers, a dedicated group of volunteers who assist the MGH Chaplaincy staff in bringing Holy Communion to the hospital' s Roman Catholic patients and their families.

• MGH Cancer Center honors scientist
  Recently, the Cancer Center bestowed its third annual Massachusetts General Hospital Award in Cancer Research to Titia de Lange, PhD, a professor at Rockefeller University, for her pioneering studies on the structure and function of mammalian telomeres.

• The MGH receives Corporate Leadership Award
  The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts bestowed one of its highest honors on the MGH at the organization's 16th annual awards gala April 5 at the Seaport World Trade Center.

• Ruvkun receives Gairdner Award
  Gary Ruvkun, PhD, of the MGH Department of Molecular Biology, is among six top scientists who have been selected to receive the 2008 Gairdner Awards for medical research.
