  • Leadership meeting highlights hospital activities and capital budget
    The quarterly MGH/MGPO leadership meeting Nov. 28 provided updates on the hand hygiene program, clinical business development (CBD), process improvement and the hospital's capital budget. Sally Mason Boemer, vice president for Finance; David Hooper, MD, chief of the MGH Infection Control Unit; and Ann Prestipino, senior vice president for Surgical and Anesthesia Services and Clinical Business Development, presented information to hospital managers and supervisors.
  • Red Sox stars train at the MGH
    Spring training may still be months away, but the pitchers of the Boston Red Sox have already begun gearing up for the 2008 season, participating in off-season workouts at the MGH Sports Medicine Center Nov. 27 through 29.
  • MGPO physicians honored for clinical excellence
    Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Brian A. McGovern, MD, Award for Clinical Excellence: Patricia O'Malley, MD, of Pediatric Emergency Services; Nagagopal Venna, MD, of Neurology; and Francis Hornicek, MD, PhD, of Orthopeadics.
  • MGH Chelsea sends treats to troops
    The staff members of the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center know that a small gesture can go a long way in brightening the days of the brave men and women serving in the U.S. military.
  • Women's health research lecture
    A former official with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) described how the agency has dealt with issues surrounding women's health and how those activities have sometimes been influenced by political considerations at the fourth annual "Improving the Health of Women through Research at Massachusetts General Hospital" lecture Nov. 7.
  • MGHers succeed in making hand hygiene 90-90 goal
    MGHers achieved the Hand Hygiene Incentive Program goal of reaching at least 90 percent hand hygiene compliance before and after patient contact for the months of November and September, arriving at 90-92 and 90-93 respectively.
