Ives Erickson appointed
to national nursing advisory council

Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for Patient Care and
chief nurse, (left) has received a prestigious appointment
to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP),
where she will serve a four-year term. Ives Erickson was named to
the post by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS), Michael O. Leavitt. The NACNEP serves as an advisory
board for HHS and Congress, making policy recommendations on workforce,
education and practice improvement issues in nursing.
A graduate of the Boston University Graduate School of Nursing, Ives
Erickson joined the MGH in 1996 and currently leads the hospital's
largest clinical division. A dedicated educator, she is an instructor
at Harvard Medical School, visiting scholar at Boston College, senior
associate at the Institute for Nursing Healthcare Leadership, assistant
professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and clinical
professor of Nursing at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and
Health Sciences School of Nursing. She is also the recipient of numerous awards and honors,
most recently the 2007 President's Award from the Massachusetts Association
of Registered Nurses.
