MGH Transplant Center symposium
The MGH Transplant Center will host its first annual symposium Nov. 17, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Simches Research Center. A reception will take place from 4 to 6 pm. MGH on the small screen
Tune in Oct. 21 at 9 pm to see Steven Zeitels, MD, director of the MGH Voice Center, examine the vocal chords of Steven Tyler, lead singer of the band Aerosmith. The program, "Incredible Human Machine" airs on the National Geographic Channel.

Annual Joint Commission PPR
It has been nearly a year since the last hospitalwide Joint Commission survey. Members of the Joint Commission Operations Group are beginning the Periodic Performance Review (PPR), the annual review of compliance. The PPR will be filed with the Joint Commission in December and is an excellent way of measuring improvement and sustained performance, helping to keep employees survey-ready. Name change for HCNR
The Harvard Center for Neurodegeneration and Repair (HCNR) at Harvard Medical School has changed its name to the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center. The center aims to transform promising discoveries into effective treatments and cures for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, ALS and Huntington's. Senior HealthWISE film series
The MGH Senior HealthWISE film series will offer a free screening of "Citizen Kane" Oct. 25, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Haber Conference Room. Registration is required. For more information or to register, call (617) 724-6756.

Eldercare series
As part of its Conversations with Caregivers eldercare series, the MGH Geriatric Medicine Unit will host "Alternatives to Home: Assisted Living, CCRC and Nursing Homes" Oct. 23, from 5:15 to 6:30 pm in the Blum Center. Mind body strategies seminar series
The Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH will sponsor "Mind Body Strategies for Caregivers" Oct. 24, from 10 to 11:30 am at the institute at 824 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill. Patricia Martin Acari, RN, PhD, will present.

Vincent Club benefit
The Vincent Club, which supports the activities of the MGH Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service, will host a gift show at Vinique Boutique, 71 Brimmer St., Boston. The event will be held Oct. 26, from 10 am to 4 pm with a Sip and Shop from 5:30 to 8 pm; and Oct. 27, from 10 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. All proceeds benefit the MGH Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service.

Working Mother magazine award reception
In honor of the MGH's selection by Working Mother magazine as one of the top 100 companies in the country for working mothers, a reception will be held Oct. 24, from 1:30 to 3 pm in the Bulfinch Tent. Respiratory Care Week information table
In honor of Respiratory Care Week, MGH Respiratory Care Services will host an information table Oct. 24, from 8 am to 4 pm in the Main Corridor. A photo display will be hung across from Coffee Central.

Evidence-Based Nursing Practice symposium
The MGH Nursing Research Committee will sponsor a symposium, "Evidence-Based Nursing Practice" Oct. 26, from noon to 4 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
