MGH Police and Security earns top honors

The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) recently awarded the MGH Police and Security Department with the 2007 Lindbergh Bell Award for outstanding health care security services. This international honor recognizes the department’s exceptional performance in a number of areas – including community policing, crime prevention, customer services, patient focus, risk management services, training, innovation, results-oriented and cost-effective programs, and involvement with the community. Bonnie Michelman, director of Police, Security and Outside Services, accepted the award on behalf of the department at the IAHSS Annual General Meeting in June. This is the second Lindbergh Bell Award earned by the MGH Police and Security Department, which previously received the honor in 1999.

The IAHSS is an organization dedicated to professionals involved in managing security and safety programs at health care organizations.
