The future of bioengineering

Opto-electronics, microfluidics and regenerative medicine were just a few of the topics covered July 12 at the second annual Methods in Bioengineering Conference, co-hosted by the MGH Center for Engineering in Medicine and the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. More than 70 posters presented during the conference focused on leading methodology used in the fields of BioMEMS, regenerative medicine, functional imaging, opto-electronics and cellular imaging. The conference also showcased state-of-the-art technology from six centers funded by the National Institutes of Health, including the MGH BioMEMS Resource Center group of peopleand the Brain Functional Imaging Resource Center at the MGH. Among the highlights of the event were keynote lectures from prominent investigators at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School and a one-day, hands-on microtechnology and microfluidics workshop.
