Soccer
stars score big at Youth Clinic
While they may not become professional soccer players just yet, a group
of 50 enthusiastic young athletes received firsthand advice from New England
Revolution soccer players at the fourth annual Youth Soccer Clinic, sponsored
by MGH Human Resources and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. This special
event at Gillette Stadium offered children with disabilities and their
siblings an afternoon of soccer drills and games under the watchful eyes
of Revolution players Michael Parkhurst, Khano Smith, Miguel Gonzalez
and Ryan Solle, who also answered questions and offered playing tips.
MGH and Spaulding volunteers and Revolution team interns kept the half-day
event going at full speed, culminating in a raffle giveaway of eight autographed
Revolution jerseys.
Right, children enjoyed a day of soccer
stars and drills.
“It was great to see children with different abilities
enjoy playing a game they love with professional athletes who took a genuine
interest in mentoring them,” says Bonnie Welch, MGH Human Resources
operations manager.
