New
park sparks a buzz
MGHers,
patients and visitors who take the MBTA Red Line may have noticed a new
landmark in Charles Circle: a 40-foot metasequoia tree, also called a
dawn redwood. The majestic tree has been planted in front of the Yawkey
Center for Outpatient Care in the former location of Buzzy’s Fabulous
Roast Beef. The MGH acquired the triangle of land when Buzzy’s closed
in 2002 after nearly 50 years and currently is converting the space into
a small park, which, in honor of the former establishment, will be called
Buzzy’s Park. Slated for completion in July or August, Buzzy’s
Park will feature a sitting area under the redwood in addition to 14 new
hornbeam trees.
