Rain
doesn't dampen spirits at annual Employee Summer Picnic
A little rain didn't stop thousands of MGHers from flocking to the Bulfinch
Tent and lawn for the annual Employee Summer Picnic June 20. Peter L.
Slavin, MD, MGH president, invited all employees, staff and volunteers
to enjoy
games, music and a Be Fit boxed lunch. A special visit from New England
Patriots player Vince Wilfork completed the celebration with employees
lining up for photos with him. "It's great to see everybody who works
so hard have an opportunity to have some fun," said Wilfork.
Though the rain led to the early removal of the Patriots Football Toss,
there were numerous booths with carnival games by True North Events and
Catering. Tropical sounds from the Volume II Steel Band reverberated throughout
the afternoon, and MGH Nutrition and Food Services succeeded in preparing
8,000 boxed lunches for hungry employees.
Evening shift employees enjoyed their own nighttime celebration from 10
pm to midnight also under the Bulfinch Tent. Guests enjoyed boxed dinners
and had the chance to play some of the afternoon's games.
