Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer a special event, "The Breast Cancer Three-Day Project Kick-Off" June 21, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room. Stephanie Sordillo of the HOPES program and Alexis Edwards of Senior HealthWISE will present. Senior HealthWISE also will offer free hypertension screenings and blood pressure checks June 25, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the West End Branch Library. For more information, call (617) 724-6756.

MGH Chelsea Summer Safety Health Fair
The MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center will host the 10th annual Summer Safety Health Fair June 23, from noon to 3 pm at MGH Chelsea, 151 Everett Ave. The fair will feature safety tips for home, water, fire, sun and car as well as bicycle and helmet checks and visits from Geoffrey the Giraffe and McGruff the Crime Dog. Floor closings in Clinics, VBK and Tilton Buildings
In preparation for the new Building for the Third Century, the following floors in the Clinics, VBK and Tilton Buildings will be closed to all MGH patients and staff beginning June 18: Clinics basement and floors 2 and 3; VBK basement and floors 2, 3, 4 and 5; and all floors in Tilton. The Clinics 1 corridor to the MEEI will remain open until mid-July. The Vincent 1 corridor to the elevator lobby, as well as floors 6, 7, 8 and 9, also will remain open until mid-July. Channel 7 News/Partners HealthCare Expo
Partners HealthCare and Channel 7/CW 56 will host the Boston Health and Fitness Expo June 23 and 24 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The free event is open to the community and will feature health tests and screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, interactive sports and fitness activities, celebrity guests and more. The expo also will give MGH caregivers and staff the opportunity to showcase the innovative services available at the hospital, such as the Women's Heart Health Program at the MGH Heart Center, gastrointestinal health, the MGH Cancer Center's HOPES program and sports injury prevention and management. McGovern Award nominations
Nominations now are being accepted for the 2007 McGovern Clinical Excellence Award, established in memory of MGH cardiologist Brian A. McGovern, MD. The award recognizes physicians who demonstrate the qualities — clinical excellence, commitment and compassion — that characterized McGovern. Anyone may submit a nomination.
