Loan repayment for primary care physicians

In an effort to address the current shortage of primary care physicians (PCPs) and improve health care access for low- and moderate-income individuals and families, Partners HealthCare and the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers are offering a new loan repayment program to encourage physicians to practice primary care in community health centers. Funding for the program is provided through a $5 million grant by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation.

MGH primary care physicians, medical students, residents and interns are eligible to apply for the program. Applicants must agree to work in primary care in community health centers for at least two years and will receive up to $25,000 a year for up to three years toward the repayment of medical school loans. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with the first round of applications due by June 1. Decisions will be announced July 1.
