The
MGH wins AHA Fit Friendly Award
Encouraging employees to stay healthy and fit has long been a priority
of the MGH. Employees' good health benefits not only the workforce itself,
but also patients,
colleagues and the institution as a whole.

To honor the MGH's commitment to its workforce's healthy and active lives,
the American Heart Association (AHA) recently awarded the hospital its
Fit Friendly Award. The award acknowledges employers who champion the
health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity
and healthy eating in the workplace.
Since the hospital launched its Be Fit program in 2005, MGHers have found
an ally in reaching their health and fitness goals. The program promotes
physical activity in the workplace and offers nutritious meal options
for its employees aiming to stay healthy and fit.
On behalf of the hospital, Jeff Davis, senior vice president of Human
Resources, and Michael Gillespie, MPH, executive director of Medicine
and administrator for the MGH Heart Center, accepted the award, which
was given to only two organizations in Massachusetts. BWH is the co-recipient
of this year's award.
