MGH Provider Numbers are now six digits

Beginning May 5, the MGH will be expanding the Provider Number from a five-digit to a six-digit number in order to continue assigning unique numbers to each provider. To accomplish this, a leading zero will be added to all current numbers. For example, if the current number is "12345," the number as of May 5 will be "012345." This expansion will affect all systems and paper and electronic forms that include the MGH Provider Number.

The new six-digit Provider Number should be used on all types of forms. All computer systems have been updated to accommodate the new number.

For more information, contact Linda Weinstein, director of the MGH Registrar/Credentialing Unit, at lweinstein@partners.org or (617) 724-8264.
