Internationally recognized cancer expert joins the MGH Cancer Center

Hematology/oncology expert Jack Erban, MD, (left) has joined the MGH Cancer Center as director of Clinical Programs at the MGH Breast Center and co-director of the Gillette Center for Women's Cancers at the MGH.

An internationally recognized expert in breast cancer and a clinician and clinical investigator, Erban brings 15 years of cancer care experience to the MGH. Most recently, he served as chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Tufts-New England Medical Center (Tufts-NEMC) and director of Tufts-NEMC's Breast Cancer Program. While new to the MGH, Erban has deep ties to the hospital — he is the nephew of Farahe Maloof, MD, the legendary former chief of the MGH Thyroid Unit.

"This is a time of great excitement in breast oncology at the MGH," says Thomas J. Lynch Jr., MD, chief of the MGH Hematology-Oncology Unit. "We are fortunate to have one of the nation's best clinical breast programs. Dr. Erban is a fabulous clinician who is beloved by the patients and staff who have worked with him, and we warmly welcome him to the MGH."
