- Migrating
North: New home for medical records
A
day in the life of an MGH medical record may involve passing through
many hands and locations throughout the hospital receptionists,
clinicians, coders and researchers and even includes some off-campus
travel with members of MGH Transport. Medical records housed on the
MGH campus with Health Information Services (HIS) recently were moved
from the Clinics Basement to the eighth floor of the Founders Building,
in an 8,000-square-foot refurbished space to accommodate medical staff,
patients, researchers and other staff who use the department's services.

- Stage
II - Planning for Change
The
Service Learning Series hosted the second installment in its Shaping
Your Service Culture Forums entitled "Stage II - Planning for Change"
March 21. The forum, presented by Cindy Sprogis and Sandra St. Fleur
of the Service Improvement Department, offered managers, supervisors
and department heads practical methods and tools to inspire staff to
work together to enhance the experience of care at the MGH. One of the
key points they shared was that 'leaders' think and act differently
from 'managers' in that leaders "empower people to work together
to achieve a shared goal," while managers "strive
for measurable results."
