Relaxation
methods
During an event sponsored by MGH Senior HealthWISE, seniors gathered in
the Haber Conference Room Feb. 22 to learn a variety of easy and useful
relaxation techniques from Ann Webster, PhD, of the Benson-Henry Institute
for Mind Body Medicine at MGH. Webster led the group through a meditation
technique and taught the seniors several "mini" relaxation exercises
that can be performed most any time and anywhere.
"It's important to remember that self-care is a key component to
maintaining overall good health," says
Webster (below). "By practicing relaxation exercises, we
can alleviate the negative effects of stress on our bodies and minds.
I hope that the group will take what they have learned today and incorporate
relaxation as a tool to becoming and staying healthy and happy."
