ribbon-cutting
The MGH Department of Orthopædics's Sports
Medicine Center is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 1, from

CFD noontime learning series
The MGH Center
for Faculty Development's (CFD) noontime learning series will offer
"How to Prepare Your CV and Input it into the HMS FIRST Program"

Service Matters Series
The MGH Service Improvement Department will kick-off the Service Matters
Series Jan. 31, from 8 to 9:30 am in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Speakers
Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of the MGH; Joseph Betancourt, MD, MPH,
director of the MGH Disparities Solutions Center; and Nancy Gagliano,
MD, vice president for Practice Improvement, will discuss the role service
will play in shaping the MGH's culture of quality and safety. A continental

Judges needed for Timilty Science Fair
The MGH/Timilty
Partnership is seeking volunteers to judge student projects at the
annual Science Fair at the James P. Timilty Middle School in Roxbury.

CIMIT Awards Program
The Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT)
is seeking applications for funding for the 2008 CIMIT Awards Program.
These awards recognize early stage, interdisciplinary and inter-institutional
research projects improving patient care with emphasis on diagnosis, intervention
and peri-procedural systems. Pre-proposals are due by Feb. 9. For more

Perioperative nursing preparation
The MGH is offering a Perioperative Nursing Education and Orientation
Program beginning March 26. The program is intended for nurses with recent
acute care experience and who have an interest in working in the OR. It
consists of four weeks of classroom and practical sessions followed by
precepted OR orientation for five to nine months. Positions will be available
in the main OR and require a full-time commitment until all competencies
are passed. A commitment of five 8-hour days with some off-shifts is required

Neuromuscular Diagnostic Center open house
The MGH Neuromuscular

RSERT disaster drill
The MGH Radiation Safety Emergency Response Team (RSERT) will hold a disaster
drill Jan. 27 from approximately 6 to 11 am. The exercise will involve
the White Ramp main entrance and the Emergency Department entrance for
decontamination of simulated victims. Staff, patients and visitors will
have access to the Parkman Street and Yawkey Center garages. The Fruit
Street garage will be open until 7 am and will remain closed for the duration
of the drill. Vehicles can exit at any time. The main entrance will be
