  • WHA celebrates 20 years
    Caregivers, patients and friends of MGH Women's Health Associates (WHA) — the first woman-focused, women-led primary care center at the MGH and in the country — joined together Jan. 11 to celebrate 20 years of serving the unique health care needs of women in the community.
  • Remembering a hero: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
    As the nation commemorated the life of civil rights pioneer Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. last week, MGHers gathered for a special breakfast celebration called "Shattering Barriers and Transcending Borders: A Tribute to the Life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr." Jan. 12 in the East Garden Room.
  • ANALYZALOT with Alyce Faye Cleese
    Legendary funnyman John Cleese and his wife, noted psychotherapist and author Alyce Faye Cleese, were honored for their work in improving the human condition through therapy and comic relief at the annual MGH Endowment for the Advancement of Psychotherapy gala event. This year's dinner, entitled ANALYZALOT, was held Dec. 3 at the InterContinental Hotel in Boston and was attended by more than 400 guests.
  • MGHers learn how to relax
    Weekdays this January, stress reduction classes are being offered in the Lower Amphitheater on Clinics 1 from noon to 12:30 pm. These free classes are part of a collaboration between the MGH Be Fit Program and the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at MGH (BHI), and are being led by a staff member of the BHI.
  • Macaluso Award recognizes clinical excellence
    The annual presentation of the Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN, Excellence in Clinical Practice Award took place at a ceremony Jan. 11 in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Corrina Lee, RN, BSN, of the Gynecology/Oncology Unit; Jane Loureiro, PT, MS, CLT, of Physical Therapy Services; Paula Nelson, RN, BSN, of the Labor and Delivery Unit; and Angela Sorge-McColgan, RN, BSN, of the Cardiac Access Unit, were the guests of honor at the hour-long event hosted by Jeanette Ives Erickson, RN, MS, senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief nurse.
  • "Critical Care: The Making of an ICU Nurse" wins national awards
    In October 2005, Boston Globe readers got a rare inside look at nursing in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting through a four-part series entitled, "Critical Care: The Making of an ICU Nurse." Recently, the MGH received two national media and public relations awards for promoting the powerful story.
