In General
Joseph Betancourt, MD, MPH, director
of the MGH Disparities Solutions Center, was recognized by Health Power
as an outstanding Hispanic/Latino American in honor of Hispanic Heritage
Month. Health Power is committed to multicultural health improvement through
health information and promotion, consultations, training, partnerships
and networking. Betancourt was honored for his dedication and commitment
to developing and implementing policies that help to eliminate racial
and ethnic differences in the delivery of health care.
Martin Mihm, MD, of MGH Dermatopathology,
received the 2006 Special Achievement Award for Outstanding Scientific
Achievement in Clinical Pathologic Studies from the Society for Melanoma
Research. Mihm was honored for his work in the classification of melanoma,
his recognition of early diagnostic features and the importance of tumor
infiltrating lymphocytes in prognosis.
Tanya Milosh Zinkus, program administrator
for Training Programs in the MGH Department of Medicine, recently was
elected the national chair of the Program Administrators Advisory Council,
a branch of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine.
