  • MGH blue card changes
    The MGH patient blue cards now will include some changes. The blue cards are primarily used to communicate the patient's medical record number. In order to support privacy initiatives and to ensure accurate and current medical record information, the new cards will not include the patient address and primary care physician. All other information will remain the same.
  • Employee benefits open enrollment begins
    This year's open enrollment period during which employees may make changes to their benefits selections begins Oct. 30 and ends Nov. 19. Changes and additions made during this period will take effect in January. Open enrollment packages, which include the MGH open enrollment newsletter, personal benefit summaries and medical plan comparison charts, were mailed to employees' homes this week.
  • Midwifery at the MGH
    At the MGH, welcoming new babies into the world is a team effort. Along with the physicians, nurses and other staff members who work together to ensure safe deliveries, there also is another vital member of the Obstetrics team — the nurse midwife. These dedicated health care practitioners provide care throughout a woman's pregnancy, labor and delivery, and first few weeks postpartum with the ultimate goal of ensuring that each mother has the birth experience she hopes for and that best meets her individual needs.
  • Raising awareness about domestic violence
    In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the MGH Domestic Violence Working Group (DVWG), the Partners Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and MGH Men Against Abuse joined forces to offer a series of educational events throughout October.
  • In memoriam: John Remensnyder, MD
    John Remensnyder, MD, a surgeon who served in various leadership roles at the MGH and Shriners Burns Hospital, died Oct. 14 at the age of 75 after a lengthy illness.
  • MGH and MSPCA-Angell team up for Human and Hound Blood Drive
    Whether for emergency surgery or cancer treatments, people and pets need safe blood supplies. The MGH and MSPCA-Angell Memorial Animal Medical Center are joining together to help meet this critical demand at the first Human & Hound Blood Drive which will be held Nov. 4 from 8 am to 2 pm at the Angell Animal Medical Center in Jamaica Plain.
