Dahlin receives
Nurse of the Year Award
Constance
Dahlin, APRN, MC, PCM, (left) a leader in the MGH Palliative Care
Service, recently was selected from among a nationwide panel of nominees
to receive the prestigious 2007 Advanced Practice Certified Hospice and
Palliative Nurse of the Year Award. The award is given annually by the
National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses to recognize
the work of nurses in end-of-life care. Recipients are chosen based on
excellence in the professional practice of end-of-life nursing, their
leadership through mentoring others in end-of-life care and their contributions
at the advanced practice level in at least one area of clinical practice,
education or research.
When the MGH Palliative Care Service launched 10 years ago, Dahlin was
one of its founding members. "Connie is an outstanding clinician
and teacher and is so deserving of this award," says Vicki Jackson,
MD, MPH, associate director of the MGH Palliative Care Service. "She
has been an integral part of the Palliative Care Service at the MGH since
its inception. We are grateful for her leadership at the MGH, as well
as her role promoting palliative care on a national level and developing
educational programs for clinicians."
