CFD noontime learning series
The MGH Center for Faculty Development (CFD) will offer "Moving Educational
Activities Into Scholarship" Oct. 12, from noon to 1 pm in the Haber

Domestic violence support group
The Partners Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will offer a 10-week domestic
violence education and support group for female employees of Partners
HealthCare. The group will meet Thursdays, beginning Oct. 5, from 4:30

Breast cancer research fund benefit
"Cards for a Cure," a casino night to benefit the ESSCO-MGH
Breast Cancer Research Fund will be held Oct. 19 beginning at 6 pm at
the Pine Brook Country Club in Weston. The event will include a cocktail
reception, live auction and gaming tables. Susan Wornick, of WCVB-TV,
will serve as celebrity emcee. Tickets are $150. For more information,

Working Mother award group photos
In honor of the MGH's designation as one of the top 100 companies for
working mothers by Working Mother magazine, all MGH employees who are
working mothers are invited to participate in a group photo in front of
the Bulfinch Building. The photos will take place Oct. 3, at noon and
1 pm and Oct. 4, at 3 and 5 pm.
Erev Yom Kippur service
MGH Chaplaincy will offer an Erev Yom Kippur service Oct. 1 at 3 pm in
the MGH Chapel located on Ellison 1.
QUOSA demonstration
The MGH Clinical Research Program and the Treadwell Library are offering
"QUOSA — An Information Manager" Oct. 10, from 4 to 5
pm in the Simches Center, Room 3120. The presentation will demonstrate
QUOSA, a software program for searching, analyzing, monitoring and organizing
biomedical literature and

Teens and relationships presentation
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the MGH Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) will host "Teens and Relationships: What
Every Parent Needs to Know" Oct. 5, from noon to 1 pm in the Thier
Conference Room. Donna Kausek, LMHC, Partners EAP domestic violence specialist,
and Patti Rosell, MSW, LICSW, of the MGH HAVEN program, will discuss how
parents can help teens navigate the dating years. For more information,

Health and family event for Hispanic
community
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the MGH and the Spanish-language
newspaper El Planeta are co-sponsoring "Salud y Familia 2006"
(Health and Family 2006) Oct. 8, from noon to 5 pm at Boston University's
Agganis Arena. The MGH will host a display booth along with other organizations
offering information and services to help improve the quality of life
of Hispanic families. Admission is free.
Physical and occupational therapy career
fair
MGH Human Resources will host a physical and occupational therapy career
fair Oct. 4, from 4 to 7 pm at the Coffee Beans and Tea Leaves Cafè
in the WACC. Information about job opportunities at the MGH main campus
and at the Revere, Chelsea, Waltham and Charlestown HealthCare Centers

The MGH Senior HealthWISE lecture series will offer "Spirituality

Adult medicine course
The BWH Department of Medicine will host the second annual "The Genetic
Basis of Adult Medicine: What the Primary Care Provider Needs to Know"

Call for Alzheimer's research grant applications
The Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) invites MGH
investigators to submit applications for pilot grants of $35,000 to fund
a one-year trial of a novel idea that has not otherwise received support.
Priority will be given first to junior investigators, then senior investigators
who are new to Alzheimer's research and then to established Alzheimer's
investigators with a new line of investigation that lacks funding. Investigators
who have received previous ADRC funding should not apply for the pilot
project. Applications are due by Nov. 3. For more information, contact
