AARP award celebration
To celebrate the MGH's designation by the AARP as one of the top employers in the country for workers over the age of 50, all MGH employees are invited to join their colleagues who are age 50 and over for a special celebration Sept. 29, from 2 to 3:30 pm under the Bulfinch Tent. Guest speakers will share their experiences as MGH employees over 50, and hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served.

Science and society conference
Partners HealthCare will host a "Science + Society: Closing the Gap"conference Jan. 19 through 21 at the Westin Copley Place Hotel. The conference is part of the Wired to Win: Surviving the Tour de France educational project and will examine the role of science and technology in today's society. It also will address the need for improved communication between the scientific community and the public. Women's health research event
The third annual "Improving the Health of Women through Research at the MGH" event will take place Oct. 4, from noon to 1 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Guest speaker Vivian Pinn, MD, director of the Office of Research on Women's Health and associate director for Research on Women's Health at the National Institutes of Health, will discuss "Perspectives on Women's Health in the 21st Century." A light lunch will be provided.

Scientific writing workshop
The MGH Clinical Research Program and the Department of Psychiatry are co-sponsoring a scientific writing workshop to help participants improve their scientific writing skills. The workshop will take place Sept. 27 and Oct. 4 and 11

Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer an "Effective Communication with Your Health Care Providers" workshop Sept. 27, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the West End Civic Association Community Room at One Emerson Place. The workshop will cover
preparing for visits to the doctor. The Senior HealthWISE film series also will host a screening of "The Producers" Sept. 29, from 1 to 3 pm in the Haber Conference Room. Registration is required for both events. For more information or to register, call (617) 724-6756.
