  • Family has healthy baby boy with help from ECMO
    When Fatuma and Abiy Roba of Ethiopia welcomed their son, Fraul, into the world in September 2005, they were excited at the birth of their first child. A three-time winner of the Boston Marathon and the gold medalist in the women's marathon at the 1996 Summer Olympics, Fatuma and her husband looked forward to starting a new chapter in their lives as a family. Although Fraul appeared healthy at first, within minutes of his birth it was clear that something was seriously wrong.
  • MGH community remembers Sept. 11
    On the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, MGHers gathered in the O'Keeffe Auditorium for an interfaith service of reflection and hope in remembrance of that tragic day.
  • Manage infertility with a Day of Wellness
    Managing infertility can be stressful as well as challenging. To address the special issues and concerns associated with this topic, the MGH Fertility Center will offer a Day of Wellness featuring a "Healing Power of Song" workshop for individuals and couples interested in learning more about managing infertility September 30, from 9 am to 1 pm at the Schiff Conference Center on Yawkey 4.
  • Learning about health care careers
    For the past 15 years, the MGH has taken an active role in providing summer employment to Boston area youth interested in exploring the world of health care. This summer, more than 140 students from the Timilty Middle School, East Boston High School (EBHS), the Health Careers Academy and other area schools had the opportunity to spend their vacations at the MGH learning about health care careers through the MGH Summer Jobs Program.
  • MGH/East Boston H.S. ProTech Program
    On Aug. 16, ten ambitious students from the MGH/East Boston High School Partnership graduated from the ProTech program. Now in its 15th year, the program has helped hundreds of high school juniors and seniors to prepare for careers in health care.
