Cancer Center
celebrates
More than 100 MGHers celebrated the one-year anniversary of the MGH Cancer
Center Support Staff Development Program at a barbecue luncheon Aug. 3.
The program began in June 2005 to provide educational opportunities and
wellness workshops to Cancer Center support staff including medical
assistants, phlebotomists, office assistants, patient care coordinators,
clinical research coordinators and administrative assistants who work
with cancer patients, their families and friends. The development program
includes monthly luncheons with members of the Cancer Center leadership
team, as well as support groups that give employees an opportunity to
openly discuss the challenges and unique concerns associated with working
with cancer patients and their families. The program also offers regular
grand rounds to educate Cancer Center staff members about topics such
as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and clinical trials. During the past
year, more than 150 Cancer Center employees have participated in the program.
For more information about the program, contact Lisa Couto at (617) 724-8864
