Senior HealthWise Events
The MGH Senior HealthWISE film series will sponsor a screening of the movie''Big Fish" Aug. 24, from 1 to 4 pm in the Haber Conference Room. Snacks will be provided, and a group discussion will take place following the film. Registration is required. Senior HealthWISE also will host a "Healthy Tips for Summer Sun" discussion group Aug. 28, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the West End Branch Library, 151 Cambridge St., Boston. Topics will include skin protection, proper hydration and other summer-related issues. Free blood pressure checks also will be available.

MGH Charlestown emergency preparedness table
The MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center will host an emergency preparedness information table Aug. 23, from 10 am to 6 pm in the center's lobby. Information available will include planning for an emergency at work and at home. Emergency experts will be on hand to answer questions.

Blank Lecture
Advance notice is being given for the annual Blank Lecture which will be held Nov. 15 at 5:30 pm with guest speaker George Cotsarelis, MD, the Albert M. Mind/body infertility workshops
The MGH Fertility Center is offering free mind/body fertility workshops Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 5:15 to 7:15 pm. The workshops are for individuals and couples dealing with infertility and will cover teaching, discussion and practice of meditation and other complementary medical techniques. CFD noontime learning series
The MGH Center for Faculty Development (CFD) noontime learning series will offer "Eight Strategies for Effective Teaching" Sept. 13, from noon to 1 pm in the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care, Room 4820. The workshop will enhance the teaching skills of physicians and scientists who engage in the teaching of medicine and science and will provide effective strategies to facilitate the interchange of knowledge between the teacher and the student. Skin therapy symposium
The Wellman Center for Photomedicine and the MGH Department of Dermatology will co-host "'Laser and Aesthetic Skin Therapy: What's the Truth?"' Sept. 15 through 17 at the Simches Research Center, third floor Conference Center. The symposium will focus on major topics in aesthetic skin therapy and lasers and will feature updates in treatment, safety and avoidance of complications; recognition of clinical endpoints; and assessment of new clinically relevant technologies.
