Chabner appointed to the NCAB

President George W. Bush announced the appointment of six new members to the National Cancer Advisory Board (NCAB) July 28. The new membership includes Bruce Chabner, MD, clinical director of the MGH Cancer Center and chief of Hematology/Oncology in the MGH Department of Medicine. The 18-member NCAB reviews and approves all grants and contracts awarded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and advises the institute on scientific policy and priorities. Chabner served as the director of the Division of Cancer Treatment of the NCI from 1982 to 1995, and retired with the rank of assistant surgeon general in the United States Public Health Service in 1995.
