JCAHO Jeopardy challenges ambulatory care practices

Question: What does JCAHO stand for? Answer: Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. MGH ambulatory care staff members have been challenged to answer such questions during the last few weeks by participating in the JCAHO Jeopardy game as a fun way to help them prepare for the upcoming, unannounced JCAHO survey.

Weekly quizzes are distributed electronically to the 19 practice teams that signed up to participate. Teams have three days to answer the questions and submit them to the Practice Support Unit, which is coordinating the game. Each week, the highest scoring team receives a prize. Despite a very strong showing from the Metabolic Mavericks team from the Endocrine Unit, who won the first two weeks of competition, the Central Arteries team from Vascular Surgery won last week and has taken the overall lead. The three teams with the highest cumulative scores by June 15 will participate in the JCAHO Jeopardy Championship to be held June 23 from 9 to 11 am in the Simches Auditorium.

Other MGHers may test their knowledge by visiting the hospital's JCAHO website at www2.massgeneral.org/jcaho and completing the quizzes on their own. The answers are posted on the site.
