MGH
Charlestown helps keep
kids safe
Because
keeping kids safe often can be a challenging job for even the most careful
of parents, the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center hosted a "Child
Safety Fair" April 29 to educate the community about children's safety
and injury prevention issues.
Free bike helmets were available
for the kids, and certified technicians performed child car seat checks,
inspecting them for proper installation. MGHers and other volunteers gave
presentations about a number of safety topics — including head injury
and smoking prevention, family planning for a disaster, home safety and
literacy promotion. Health center staff also provided additional information
about sun safety, substance abuse and violence prevention. Face painting,
safety contests and prizes rounded out the fun activities of the day.
