  • Barbie visits MGH patients
Young patients at MassGeneral Hospital for Children and their families received a surprise visit from a real-life version of Barbie April 19. Barbie was in town for her musical, Barbie in Fairytopia, when she took time to stop by MassGeneral Hospital for Children's Pediatric Group Practice on Yawkey 6 to read stories to the children.
  • Hockey stars skate for United Way
Nearly 500 hockey fans filled the stands of the Stoneham Arena April 2 to cheer for Team MGH as they faced-off against the Black and Gold Legends — a team of former Boston Bruins hockey players — at the fourth annual celebrity hockey game benefiting the hospital's United Way campaign.
  • New neighbors: Emerson Place construction project progresses
For passersby walking along Blossom Street in front of the MGH Gray and Jackson buildings, the large construction project at Emerson Place has become a curious display. Construction crews are hard at work building two 12-story residential towers, one 16-story residential tower, three townhouses and three stories of an underground parking garage as part of a comprehensive development project managed by a company called Equity Residential.
  • MGHers collaborate to build awareness about sexual assault prevention
In recognition of April as national Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, the MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP), MGH Police and Security, the Emergency Department's Sexual Assault Program, MGH Men Against Abuse and the Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now (HAVEN) program joined together to sponsor an information table about sexual violence prevention April 6 in the Main Corridor.
  • Clean hands, healthy patients, happy employees
The final results for hand hygiene compliance in the fourth quarter of 2005 have been tallied, and special congratulations go to two groups of MGHers — physical and occupational therapists (PTs and OTs) and unit service associates (USAs) — for reaching a major hand hygiene milestone by attaining the highest-ever hand hygiene compliance rates before and after after contact with a patient or patient's environment.
